Now-deleted post suggests actor is working on a new motion capture project

Miles Morales actor’s Instagram pic leads to Spider-Man 2 speculation

A hastily deleted Instagram post made by the actor behind PlayStation’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales has led to speculation that production may have started on a sequel.

On Tuesday, actor Nadji Jeter published a photograph of him donning motion capture gear for an unspecified project. Soon after, he deleted the post entirely once fans began speculating it could be for a full sequel to Insomniac’s Spider-Man.

It’s possible that the motion capture could be for an unrelated project. However, Jeter hasn’t motion-captured any other video game outside of Marvel’s Spider-Man, since appearing in the original The Last of Us as character Sam in 2013.

A new Spider-Man project would not be a surprise, considering the commercial success of the original game and PS5 spin-off Miles Morales.

Released in September 2018, PS4 exclusive Spider-Man was widely praised by critics and has sold more than 13 million units worldwide, according to publisher Sony.

The huge success of the title contributed to Sony Interactive Entertainment acquiring California-based Insomniac Games, the developer also known for Resistance and Ratchet and Clank.

As of December 31, 2020, spin-off game Miles Morales had sold around 4 million units across PS4 and PS5, according to Sony.

Asked what would come next after Miles Morales in an October 2020 Game Informer interview, creative director Brian Horton remained coy.

“The threads from the first game still exist, but we’re really focusing on Miles’ chapter and how he is going to become Spider-Man,” he told the magazine.
