Microsoft has revealed the Gold Shadow Special Edition Xbox controller
It’s launching this month for $70 / £65
Microsoft has announced its latest Xbox controller design.
The Gold Shadow Special Edition Xbox controller is available to pre-order now for $69.99 / £64.99 ahead of its launch on October 17.
“A homage to Xbox One’s fan-favorite Shadow series designs, this controller sports a sophisticated gold-to-black metallic finish on the top case,” according to Microsoft.
“Aside from the top case and D-Pad, the rest of the controller is draped in carbon black, allowing the gold elements to shine.”
The controller can connect to Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles, PC, mobile phones and tablets via Bluetooth and Xbox Wireless.
Microsoft has already released at least eight new Xbox controller designs in 2023.
In February it launched the blue-purple Stellar Shift controller, followed by the Velocity Green controller in March.
March also saw the release of red and blue editions of the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller.
In May, Microsoft released a Sunkissed Vibes controller with a peach and pastel blue theme, then in June it launched the limited edition Starfield controller.
In August it released the Stormcloud Vapor Xbox Series X/S controller, which was followed by the Astral Purple wireless controller in September.
The next evolution of the Xbox controller will have improved haptic feedback, an accelerometer, speakers and a rechargeable and replaceable battery.
The controller, codenamed Sebile, leaked last month via unredacted court documents published accidently by Microsoft, including one titled ‘Roadmap to 2030’.
It included information on Microsoft’s mid-generation console refresh, which says the new console will come with an “all-new, more immersive controller”.
