Microsoft Flight Simulator’s Top Gun expansion has been dated
It will launch in late May, two days before the new film
Xbox has announced that Microsoft Flight Simulator’s free Top Gun expansion will be released on May 25.
The release date was confirmed on Monday alongside the launch of a new promotional website inviting players to create their own “call sign”.
The Top Gun expansion was announced last June during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2021.
It was originally scheduled to launch late last year, but it was pushed back when Paramount Pictures delayed the Top Gun: Maverick release date to May 27.
According to Microsoft, the Top Gun: Maverick expansion will let players “experience first-hand what it’s like to be a U.S. Navy Top Gun”.
Flight Simulator’s eighth world update focused on Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar and Andorra.
Released in late March, it included a variety of new, high resolution geographic improvements, including elevation data, photogrammetry, and aerial imagery.
It also added four handcrafted airports, 99 custom points of interest, and 13 new activities: four bush trips, four discovery flights, and five landing challenges.
Flight Simulator head Jorg Neumann said in March that Microsoft is planning to introduce mouse and keyboard support for Xbox Cloud Gaming.
