Microsoft Flight Simulator sets record launch for the series
Title attracts over one million players and breaks Game Pass PC record
Microsoft Flight Simulator has recorded the biggest launch in the series’ near 38-year history, according to Microsoft.
The title has attracted over one million players since its release on August 18 and also enjoyed the biggest launch in Xbox Game Pass PC history.
Microsoft said in a blog post that players have flown over 26 million virtual flights covering one billion miles to date.
“Launch marks the beginning of a journey for us and this is just the start,” the company said. “There is plenty more to come on our flight itinerary including world updates, sim updates, and future themed DLC.”
Flight Simulator’s version 1.7.14.0 update, which is available now, fixes a number of issues related to stability and installation.
To install the patch, players should close Microsoft Flight Simulator and relaunch, Microsoft said. “However, if you have experienced installation issues, we strongly advise you to do a clean install of Microsoft Flight Simulator”.
Instructions on how to perform a clean install of Microsoft Flight Simulator are available on the game’s website.
Last month Microsoft created a web page listing the most common Flight Simulator issues and workarounds for the problems.
The PC title, which is also coming to Xbox One, released to near universal acclaim, but users have also reported several issues, including loading problems and slow download times.
“Ultimately, Flight Simulator is the best game of its type to date,” VGC’s 5/5 Microsoft Flight Simulator review concluded.
