Microsoft Flight Simulator has launched its free virtual reality update
Compatible supported devices include Windows Mixed Reality, Oculus, Valve and HTC headsets
Microsoft Flight Simulator is now playable in VR following the game’s latest update.
The free VR update is available to Xbox Game Pass for PC, Windows 10 and Steam players who own a compatible supported device.
These include most Windows Mixed Reality headsets (including the HP Reverb G2), Oculus, Valve, and HTC headsets.
Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann said in October that VR support was the “number one” request from the Flight Simulator community and a team had been working on it for over a year.
“The flight sim community has been a very active and insightful partner in shaping how the team approached VR, and continues to be a critical partner in our continued development as we make further improvements and add new features to the simulation,” Neumann said on Tuesday.
“Adding VR to Microsoft Flight Simulator was a direct result of community feedback, and we look forward to continued involvement in the future of the franchise with us.”
Microsoft has launched dedicated Flight Simulator VR forums and an FAQ featuring more information about today’s update.
Flight Simulator’s third world update will launch in January and focus on the United Kingdom.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is scheduled to release for Xbox Series X/S in the summer of 2021.
