Metroid Fusion joins Switch Online’s Game Boy Advance library next week
The addition will mean the entire mainline 2D Metroid saga is available on Switch
Nintendo Switch Online’s next Game Boy Advance title, Metroid Fusion, will release on Wednesday, March 8, Nintendo has announced.
The fourth game in the 2D Metroid saga will be available for subscribers of the Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier, which launched its Game Boy library last month.
Released in 2002, Metroid Fusion sees bounty hunter Samus Aran attacked by the mysterious X parasite, an organism that can mimic the abilities of any creature it infects.
Once Fusion arrives, it will mean the full mainline 2D Metroid series is available to play on Switch Online, from Metroid on the NES, Metroid II – Return of Samus on the Game Boy, Super Metroid on the Super NES, and the latest instalment on Nintendo Switch, Metroid Dread.
There are currently nine Game Boy and Game Boy Color games available via a Switch Online subscription, and a further six Game Boy Advance games available through its Expansion Pack tier.
Nintendo has also confirmed some of the games that will be coming to the service in the future.
Upcoming Game Boy games include The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons / Ages, Pokemon: Trading Card Game and Kirby Tilt & Tumble.
Upcoming Game Boy Advance games include Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, F-Zero Maximum Velocity and Golden Sun.
