Media Molecule’s Dreams ‘dated for PS4’
Creation toolkit arrives in February 2020, retailer suggests
Media Molecule’s PS4 exclusive Dreams will reportedly be released on February 14, 2020.
That’s according to a since-deleted tweet from retailer ShopTo, which published the date online with the artwork below.
Developed by Media Molecule and currently in early access, Dreams is billed as “a platform where you can create anything you can imagine, then share it with the world using just your PS4”.
During her BAFTA Games Lecture in August 2018, Media Molecule studio director Siobhan Reddy said that she believed democratising technology is key to inspiring a new generation of game developers.
“At Media Molecule I’ve found a group of people who are passionate about a particular challenge, and that is demystifying the digital arts so that anyone can express themselves in our medium,” she said.
“We believe that making games should have the same accessibility as using a camera, a guitar or a pencil, something that you can start just by picking it up.”
Media Molecule revealed earlier this year that it’s exploring how users could potentially monetise or be otherwise rewarded for content they create in Dreams.
Dreams won the best of Gamescom 2019 award, as well as the most original game and best PlayStation 4 game awards at the convention in August.
