Mass Effect 4’s latest artwork teases return of the Geth
EA studio celebrates N7 day with a brand new teaser poster
BioWare has marked its annual N7 Day by publishing a new piece of Mass Effect 4 artwork.
The poster, which is the first teaser released for the new Mass Effect since last year’s announce trailer, shows a crater shaped like a Geth. The Geth are the machine race and main antagonist in the first three games.
BioWare first revealed it was working on a new Mass Effect game in November 2020 with the release of a teaser trailer.
“We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next,” it said.
Shortly after, BioWare said a number of Mass Effect trilogy veterans had returned to work on the next entry in the series.
Dusty Everman, principal narrative designer for the next Mass Effect, and creative director Parrish Ley, both rejoined BioWare last year to work on the series.
In addition to the new game, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was released for consoles and PC earlier this year. According to publisher EA, Legendary Edition sales far exceeded its pre-release forecasts.
“The launch of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, the remaster of the first three Mass Effect games, reignited the passion of fans around the world, driving sales performance well above our expectations,” EA CEO Andrew Wilson said in August.
New BioWare general manager Gary McKay said this summer that he wants to rebuild the studio’s reputation following a difficult period for company, which cancelled plans to reboot Anthem in February 2021.
