Marvel’s Iron Man VR gets new PS4 release date
Superhero game targets July release following three delays
Marvel’s Iron Man VR will be released for PlayStation VR on July 3, 2020.
Announcing the release date on Tuesday, Sony Interactive Entertainment said more information about the game will be released in the coming weeks.
The title has been in development for over three years at Seattle-based Camouflaj, the studio behind stealth thriller République.
It was originally set for release last year before being delayed to February 2020, then to May, and most recently to an unspecified date due to disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The game sees Iron Man facing off against Ghost, a Marvel villain portrayed by Hannah John-Kamen in 2018 movie Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Lead writer Brendan Murphy told the PlayStation Blog last year: “Ghost is a great foil for Tony Stark—she not only holds a grudge against our hero, but holds a mirror up to him.
“As a witness to the damage caused by Stark-made weapons years earlier, Ghost’s fight against Iron Man is both ideological and personal. Because of Ghost, our complex and fascinating hero must reconcile his troubled past, both on and off the battlefield.”
Sony said in January that PlayStation VR sales have topped five million units since launching in October 2016.
