Marvel’s Avengers hits PS5 and Xbox Series X/S alongside Hawkeye DLC in March
Operation Hawkeye: Future Imperfect sees the Avengers face off against Maestro
Square Enix will release the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Marvel’s Avengers alongside the game’s new Hawkeye DLC on March 18, 2021.
The publisher said the current-gen console versions will feature “upgraded visuals and framerate, significantly faster load times, improved destruction and Heroic detail”.
Players moving from PS4 to PS5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S will be able to upgrade free of charge.
Square Enix previously said users will be able to transfer their saves, player profiles and progression to current-gen consoles, with cross-gen play supported within console families.
The second part of Marvel’s Avengers’ two Hawkeyes’ story arc will conclude with Clint Barton DLC, which is titled Operation Hawkeye: Future Imperfect.
The first part of the Hawkeyes’ story, Kate Bishop – Taking AIM, launched in December 2020. Picking up shortly after the conclusion of Marvel’s Avengers’ Reassemble campaign, it introduced a new villain, the Super Adaptoid, whose skills and weapons mimic the Avengers’ attacks.
Clint’s story, which picks up after the conclusion of Kate’s Operation, sees Hawkeye and fellow Avengers attempting “to prevent an apocalyptic future ruled by Maestro, a mad villain who was once the Hulk”.
Crystal Dynamics community engagement specialist Leyla Karasuma told the PlayStation Blog that Future Imperfect’s storyline is inspired by Marvel Comics’ Old Man Hawkeye series and the Hawkeye (2012) ‘My Life as a Weapon’ storyline.
“You will be taking Clint on a perilous journey to a future Earth and stepping into a new biome known as the Wasteland to find the missing Nick Fury, come face-to-face with the villain Maestro, and save the world.”
