Marvel’s Avengers gameplay and co-op reveal coming in June
Delayed game scheduled for release in September
Square Enix will host a Marvel’s Avengers live stream on June 24.
The broadcast will include new gameplay and offer a look at co-op, the publisher said on Wednesday.
Marvel’s Avengers is in development at Tomb Raider studio Crystal Dynamics with support from Deus Ex maker Eidos Montreal, Crystal Northwest and Nixxes.
In January, Square Enix delayed the Marvel’s Avengers release date by four months to September 4, 2020.
Following E3’s cancellation in March, Square Enix said it was exploring alternative ways to showcase its ‘strongest ever line-up’ of games.
And this month it reportedly confirmed plans to announce new titles on an individual basis, rather than all at once during a big summer showcase.
In January, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda said the company is “making steady progress” on next-gen console titles” and is also developing cloud-native games.
And during a financial results briefing in February, he said PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X backwards compatibility mean the company isn’t planning to release next-gen exclusives for some time.
Square Enix is also launching a monthly Outriders show this Thursday at 9am PDT / 5pm BST. Outriders is an upcoming RPG-shooter from Gears of War: Judgment and Bulletstorm studio People Can Fly.
