Mario Kart Tour adds N64’s ‘most broken’ track
A guide to the new drivers, karts and gliders of the Ice Tour
Mario Kart Tour’s Ice update has gone live, adding a number of new characters, karts, gliders and tracks.
The two-week event sees the arrival of Frappe Snowland, the Mario Kart 64 track which has been called the series’ “most broken” course.
On N64, Frappe Snowland is infamous for its exploits which allow speedrunners to complete a ‘lap’ in less than ten seconds. These exploits do not appear to have transferred to the Tour version of the course.
Additionally, the Ice Tour adds the Vanilla Lake SNES course, plus Penguin Luigi, Wintertime Peach and Ice Mario drivers, as well as a number of karts and gliders.
Ice Mario is available as part of a $39.99 / £39.99 content pack or via The Pipe, a gacha-like unlock mechanic which requires in-game Rubies to use. The virtual currency is very difficult to obtain without spending real money.
