Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s latest update adds a custom items feature

A new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe update has introduced a long-requested custom items feature.

Players who download the free update can now choose which items appear in offline races, as well as in certain online modes.

Players can also set custom items to only appear on certain teams in order to create custom rulesets for their races.

This update’s release coincides with the launch of the third wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC.

The DLC, which is the third wave of six drops planned as part of the Booster Course Pass, includes classic tracks such as Boo Lake from the GameBoy Advance and Maple Treeway from the Nintendo Wii.

The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass costs $24.99 / £24.99. Players who subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack receive access to the DLC as part of their subscription.

Starting this Friday, the official UK My Nintendo Store will be offering anyone who buys a Nintendo Switch OLED model a free copy of one of two games, including the £99 Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit.

Players who buy a Switch OLED from the My Nintendo Store will have the option of adding either Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit (their choice of the Mario or Luigi set) or The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD to their order at no extra charge.
