Lego Horizon Adventures doesn’t have a PS5 Pro mode at launch
Sony’s new Horizon offers Performance and Fidelity options on PS5 Pro too
Sony’s new first-party title, Lego Horizon Adventures, doesn’t include PlayStation 5 Pro support at launch.
Reviews for the game, including VGC’s own, went live today, and alongside those reviews we can confirm the game’s graphical options.
Players who recently purchased the PS5 Pro will doubtless be keen to know if the game has support for their new console, much like last month’s release of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. However, at this moment in time, Lego Horizon Adventures doesn’t offer PS5 Pro support.
Instead, the game supports two different graphics modes as seen in numerous other games – a fidelity mode and a performance mode – both of which are available on both the base PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro models.
The Fidelity mode offers more detailed lighting and shadows, as well as sharper textures, but at the cost of a lower framerate. The Performance mode, however, reduces some of the more taxing visual effects in favor of a locked frame rate of 60 frames per second.
It’s not currently known whether a PS5 Pro mode will be added to the game in a post-launch update, but at the moment the game’s listing on the PlayStation Store shows no “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label, unlike other games such as Spider-Man 2.
During the official reveal of the PS5 Pro back in September, system architect Mark Cerny specifically referred to the issue of graphics modes, noting that players often had to choose between “choppier” frame rates and “less responsive controls”, or an improved frame rate with lower graphical detail.
Cerny stated that “removing that decision, or at least narrowing that divide is one of the key targets for PlayStation 5 Pro,” leading some players to believe that future first-party PS5 games would have no such graphical options when played on PS5 Pro.
Co-developed by Guerrilla and Studio Gobo, Lego Horizons Adventures will be released on PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch on November 14.
VGC’s Lego Horizon Adventures review calls it “a charming, if simple, family adventure.”
