Left 4 Dead spiritual successor Back 4 Blood has been delayed

Turtle Rock Studios has delayed the release date of Left 4 Dead spiritual successor Back 4 Blood from June 21 to October 12, 2021.

The company said in a statement: “Turtle Rock Studios is working hard to make Back 4 Blood the best game it can possibly be at launch and the team needs more time to do this. Therefore, we will release Back 4 Blood on October 12, 2021.

“We thank our community for its continued support and are excited to share that there will be an open beta this summer.”

Turtle Rock Studios revealed its Left 4 Dead spiritual successor Back 4 Blood at The Game Awards in December 2020 and launched a closed alpha later that month.

Prior to that, little had been heard about the co-op zombie shooter since its original announcement in March 2019.

“We wanted to do more and bigger,” Chris Ashton, co-founder and design director at Turtle Rock, said at The Game Awards.

“We wanted to have more playable characters, more mission, more story, but we also wanted to have a bigger variety of zombies, so now we’ve got these 20-foot tall zombie monstrosities that are definitely going to take the help of your friends to defeat.”

Back 4 Blood is set to be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
