Leaked Project U video offers the first glimpses of Ubisoft’s new co-op shooter

A leaked video has provided the first brief look at Ubisoft’s recently announced co-op shooter Project U, as well as new details on the game.

The video in question, which is viewable in the tweet below, was created to welcome users to the game’s first playtest.

Ubisoft announced Project U last month, when it said the game “explores a new concept of session-based co-op shooter, where many players unite to prevail against an overwhelming threat”.

As well as providing a glimpse of the game in action and a brief look at some environments, the leaked video confirms that the project is in development at Ubisoft Annecy.

Prior to leading development on Steep and most recently Riders Republic, the studio contributed to Splinter Cell‘s multiplayer and seven Assassin’s Creed games, as well as The Division franchise.

“Welcome to Project U,” creative director Damien Kieken said in the playtest video. “U stands for Unite. As you will discover very quickly if you want to prevail in this game, uniting with other players is a must.

“We’ve been working for several years now passionately on this project, where we aim to do something a little bit different in the co-op shooter genre, and we’re so happy that we can finally have you play the build with us.”

A few thousand players have been invited to the game’s first PC-only closed test in western Europe. Players can register here for a chance to participate.
