My girlfriend was supposed to go to the G2 VIP box to watch Worlds but when they got to the Arena, they were told they had no VIP box anymore
Guess who they gave the box to?
Linkin Park 💀
Funniest part?
They never actually used that VIP box…
💀💀💀💀💀
League of Legends Worlds tickets taken from fans last minute and ‘given to Linkin Park’
Fans were allegedly told 90 minutes before the event
A group of League of Legends fans were allegedly left without tickets to this weekend’s League of Legends World Championships in London, after their box was given to band Linkin Park hours before the show.
The event, which took place from London’s O2 arena this weekend, saw thousands of fans flock from around the world to watch the world’s best League of Legends players compete for the top prize. Alongside that, the band Linkin Park performed at the event.
However, one group of fans said they were left scrambling for tickets after finding out 90 minutes before the event was set to begin that the box, which the group had paid for, was refunded, and instead, they claim, given to Linkin Park. No replacement or alternative tickets were offered, they said.
“Today, I was supposed to sit in a Vip box with @G2League to watch worlds live,” wrote @SloppyWarlus on X.
“But unfortunately, it got canceled and refunded last minute (1.5 hours before the opening ceremony)
“Turned out that @linkinpark booked our exact vip box last minute💀. So the venue just took us off the list because its fucking Linkin Park. That on it’s own sucks for us because we already traveled and planned everything.
“But the worst part is that we litteraly didn’t even get any replacement seats. Our access to the arena was just scrapped and refunded.”
VGC has reached out to Riot and the O2 for comment on the issue and will update the story should we receive one.
Fans affected by the issue were quick to point out that it was likely not the fault of Linkin Park, but that due to the band’s fame, event organizers likely decided the band would take priority over fans who’d previously booked the seats.
