Latest Nvidia driver includes a Final Fantasy 16 profile, suggesting PC news may come soon
The game’s producer Naoki Yoshida is set to attend Gamescom
The latest Nvidia graphics driver contains a secret profile for Final Fantasy 16, it’s been discovered.
GeForce Game Ready Driver version 560.81 was released on Tuesday and included new settings profiles for five games – Once Human, Stormgate, The First Descendant, Dungeonborne and Chained Together.
However, as discovered by Reddit user m_w_h (and verified by PC Gamer), version 560.81 also has a profile for Final Fantasy 16 and a Final Fantasy 16 Demo, neither of which are included in the official driver release notes.
Although Square Enix has already confirmed that Final Fantasy 16 will be coming to PC at some point, a release date has still yet to be confirmed.
The addition of profiles for the game and a demo suggest that a release may be coming sooner than later.
Given that Gamescom is two weeks away, and that Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida will be attending the event, some fans are speculating that either a release date or the demo could be announced during the Gamescom Opening Night Live show on August 20.
Back in March, Yoshida said development on the PC version of Final Fantasy 16 was progressing smoothly, but that it wasn’t ready to announce a release date at the time.
“We’re looking to release a demo for the PC version as well,” he added. “Again, we can’t really talk about too much in terms of details of when it’s going to come out – I think in a little bit more time we’ll be in a better place to announce things.
“But one thing’s for sure: It won’t be too distant in the future. It won’t be a year, it won’t be two years, it will probably be shorter than that, so stay tuned.”
