Last of Us director says his next game ‘could be Part 3 or a new IP’
Neil Druckmann discusses what might be next for Naughty Dog
The Last of Us Part 2 director Neil Druckmann has said his next title could be a sequel to the upcoming game or a new intellectual property.
As part of a lengthy GQ feature on the making of the PS4 exclusive, the Naughty Dog vice president discussed what might be next in line for the studio.
“As you start wrapping things up, creatively there are fewer and fewer responsibilities and my mind can’t help but think about the next thing,” he said. “So, yeah, the next thing could be a Part III, the next thing could be some new IP.”
During a Retro Replay video published in February, Druckmann said Naughty Dog hasn’t ruled out making another Uncharted game in the future.
“We’re lucky that we have the freedom that Sony gives us where we can choose. We made Uncharted 4 and we haven’t made another Uncharted since, maybe one day we will, we’ll see”.
Following two delays, The Last of Us Part 2 release date is set for June 19. According to GQ, the game clocks in at 25-30 hours long.
Druckmann recently commented further on the pre-release leaks which revealed significant Last of Us 2 details in late April, insisting they only tell part of the story. “The ending is not out there” and there’s plenty of false information being spread about the game online, he said.
