Last of Us 2 won’t be shown publicly at Madrid Games Week, Sony clarifies
Naughty Dog’s game mistakenly listed for event
Sony has clarified that The Last of Us Part 2 won’t be shown publicly at Madrid Games Week in October.
A Spanish PlayStation Blog post published on Monday originally stated the highly anticipated PS4 exclusive would be present in some form at the event, which takes place from October 3-6.
However, its inclusion on a list of PlayStation games set to appear at the event was made in error and the blog post in question has since been updated to remove any mention of the game.
Contrary to online reports, a PlayStation UK representative told VGC on Thursday that The Last of Us Part II will not be playable at Madrid Games Week and furthermore, won’t be shown to the public in any form.
New information about the post-apocalyptic sequel is expected to be revealed at a press event in Los Angeles on Tuesday September 24.
The Last of Us Part 2 was announced at the PlayStation Experience event in December 2016.
Set five years after the events of the original game, the sequel sees players take control of Ellie, who was a secondary playable character in The Last of Us and the star of the title’s Left Behind expansion.
Sony has yet to confirm The Last of Us Part 2’s release date. Naughty Dog completed shooting the cinematics for the game in April.
The studio claimed in June 2018 that The Last of Us sales had reached 17 million units across PS3 and PS4.
