Larian says a fix for the Baldur’s Gate 3 save bug on Xbox is coming next week
Microsoft has identified the cause of the issue and is working to address it
Microsoft has reportedly uncovered the cause of an issue that can result in Baldur’s Gate 3 saves being lost on Xbox Series X/S.
After its Xbox release was held up by several months due to technical issues, Larian’s celebrated RPG launched for Microsoft’s console to coincide with last month’s The Game Awards, where the title won six prizes.
But following its release, some players began encountering a major bug that caused them to love their saved progress.
Having previously offered a number of workarounds designed to combat the issue, Microsoft has reportedly now identified its cause and is working on a permanent fix.
“Microsoft have identified the cause of the save bug on Xbox, and will be issuing a firmware update to fix it!” Larian Studios said on Tuesday.
“You’ll be able to update your console manually on the 16th of January, or wait a week longer for the update to roll out globally.”
The studio added: “Although we haven’t been able to independently verify this fix, we’re optimistic that Microsoft have gotten to the bottom of it!”
Larian CEO Swen Vincke said on Monday that he’s made significant progress drafting the first act of an upcoming project.
However, the Baldur’s Gate 3 director told fans not to expect an official announcement about the title in the near future.
