Kojima Productions premieres 8 min Death Stranding launch trailer
PS4 exclusive to release November 8
Kojima Productions has premiered an 8 minute Death Stranding launch trailer, featuring a significant amount of new footage from the PS4 exclusive.
The highly anticipated release is the first game from Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima since he split with Konami in 2015.
Announced at E3 2016, Death Stranding features a cast of high-profile actors including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Lindsay Wagner and director Guillermo del Toro.
A PC version of the Death Stranding, published by 505 games, was announced on Monday for release in summer 2020.
Kojima has described Death Stranding as “a completely new type of action game, where the goal of the player is to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society”.
He told PlayStation Blog: “It is created so that all elements, including the story and gameplay, are bound together by the theme of the ‘Strand’ or connection.
“As Sam Porter Bridges, you will attempt to bridge the divides in society, and in doing create new bonds or ‘Strands’ with other players around the globe.
“Through your experience playing the game, I hope you’ll come to understand the true importance of forging connections with others.”
Kojima Productions showed 50 minutes of Death Stranding gameplay during a Tokyo Game Show live stream in September.
The Death Stranding review embargo will lift on Friday November 1, a week before the Death Stranding release date of November 8.
The title, which is available to pre-order from retailers including Best Buy, Walmart, ShopTo and Game, includes a very easy mode targeted at “movie fans”.
Sony recently announced a limited edition Death Stranding PS4 Pro Bundle featuring a special Death Stranding 1TB console, game and controller for $399.99/£379.99. It’s available to pre-order at Best Buy and Game.
