Kena studio says it will ‘look into other platform releases’ after PlayStation
The game is currently a timed PlayStation and Epic Games Store exclusive
The co-founder of the studio behind Kena: Bridge of Spirits has said it will be looking into releasing on other platforms after the team has had a rest.
Kena released last week as a timed exclusive on PS5, PS4 and the Epic Games Store, but Ember Lab co-founder and COO Josh Grier made it clear in an interview with SegmentNext that the studio isn’t ruling out releasing on other platforms in the future.
“We are currently focused on our launches for PlayStation and Epic Games store, which are timed exclusives,” Grier said. “We will look into other platform releases after launch and a rest.”
After being asked specifically about an Xbox release, Grier added: “Right now, with just a few days to launch, it’s very difficult to think about next steps or future offerings.
“We have been responding to the requests from the community as best we can. For example, we just announced a physical release and the addition of Russian and Brazilian-Portuguese.”
Announced during a PS5 showcase in July 2020, Kena was billed as “a story-driven action adventure with a stunning visual aesthetic combining exploration with fast-paced combat”.
Developer Ember Lab was founded in 2009 by brothers Josh and Mike Grier as an animation studio and had not released a high-end game before Kena.
