Kena: Bridge of Spirits has been delayed so that the team can ‘polish the game’
PlayStation and PC adventure title will now be released in September
Ember Lab has delayed the Kena: Bridge of Spirits release date from August 24 to September 21, 2021.
Confirming the delay, the studio said the extra time was needed to deliver the best experience on PS5, PS4 and PC.
“We have made the difficult decision to delay the release of Kena until September 21 to polish the game across all platforms,” it said.
“The team has been working extremely hard and we feel the extra time is critical to ensure the best experience possible.
“We know many of you are eager to play and we appreciate your patience as the team continues to work on delivering the best version of Kena,” it added.
“Thank you for you amazing support.”
Announced during a PS5 showcase in July 2020, Kena is billed as “a story-driven action adventure with a stunning visual aesthetic combining exploration with fast-paced combat”.
Players take on the role of Kena, a young spirit guide on a quest to uncover “the mysterious story surrounding the demise of the village”.
To do so, she must “find and grow a team of charming spirit companions called the Rot, enhancing their abilities and creating new ways to manipulate the environment”.
Developer Ember Lab was founded in 2009 by brothers Josh and Mike Grier as an animation studio and has not released a high-end game before.
