IO announces Hitman Trilogy, out next week and coming to Xbox Game Pass
The release will also mark the Steam debut for Hitman 3
IO Interactive has announced that a special Hitman Trilogy bundle will be released next week.
Hitman Trilogy will be available digitally on January 20, and will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, the Epic Games Store and Steam.
The trilogy will also be available as part of Xbox Game Pass for both console and PC on the day of release.
The news also marks the first time that Hitman 3 will be available on Steam, having previously been an Epic Games Store exclusive.
“If you’re completely new to the world of assassination, we are making it easier than ever to get started and play the full campaign in one single package,” community manager Clemens Koch said during a Hitman 3 presentation on the Hitman YouTube channel (which can be watched above).
“The Hitman Trilogy includes Hitman 1, Hitman 2 and Hitman 3, giving you everything you need to jump straight into the world of assassination. And when Year 2 launches on January 20, the Hitman Trilogy will be available through the Xbox Game Pass catalogue for both console and PC.”
The 2016 reboot of Hitman was critically acclaimed for its episodic format and its level design, and over 13 million had played the game by May 2018.
Its sequel was released in 2018 and was generally considered to be an improvement, as did its 2021 successor Hitman 3.
VGC’s Hitman 3 review praised the game for its art design and entertaining assassination opportunities, but said it was let down somewhat by its final level.
“Wobbly conclusion aside, it’s a must for existing fans and a great introduction to gaming’s boldest, baldest stealth series,” our critic wrote.
