Id Software is hiring for what it calls a “long-running iconic action FPS” project.
The studio behind Doom, Rage, and Quake is looking for a Senior Technical Animator, a Skybox Artist, an Environment Concept Artist as well as other technical positions.
Notably, the art positions list that potential applicants “will be responsible for the visualization and implementation of AAA quality sci-fi and fantasy environmental vistas and skyboxes.”
The list of qualifications desired for the role also requests that the applicant is “Well versed in Fantasy and Sci-Fi art styles”.
While the listings don’t explicitly say which franchise the jobs are for, “long-running iconic action FPS” potentially narrows the project down to either Doom and Quake.
Doom Eternal was released in 2020 with positive reviews and received two pieces of DLC, as well as upgrade ports for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The last new game in the Quake series, Quake Champions was met with a muted player response and eventually went free-to-play in 2018.
A remastered version of the original Quake for modern platforms was released to coincide with the game’s 25th anniversary.
The iconic shooter was updated for modern platforms, with up to 4K resolution and widescreen support on compatible platforms, enhanced models, dynamic lighting, anti-aliasing, depth of field and more.
The re-release supports local or online co-op for up to four players across both its single-player campaign, original expansions and even two campaign add-ons created by Wolfenstein developer MachineGames.
All three Quakes games were also added to Xbox Game Pass, with Quake III and Quake III Arena only being available to PC users.
