Hyper Scape Season 1 launches for consoles and PC
Ubisoft’s battle royale “built from the ground up to support content creators”
Ubisoft has officially launched Hyper Scape for consoles and PC.
Today’s release follows a PC beta test which kicked off in July.
Developed by Ubisoft Montréal, Hyper Scape is a free-to-play, 100-player battle royale FPS set in a futuristic urban environment called Neo-Arcadia.
Season 1: The First Principle also launches today. It will feature 11 new guns, including a mid-range weapon called the Dragonfly, and 11 new Hacks, including Magnet, which can be used to trap opponents.
Solo and Squad Crown Rush game modes will be complemented by limited time modes throughout the season.
Season 1 will also see the game’s overarching narrative begin to unfold. “There is a mystery in the Hyper Scape created by Prisma Dimensions that players will have to solve,” Ubisoft says.
Players will be able to collect a new Memory Shard each week to learn about different characters and events, while comics released each season will also flesh out the story.
Hyper Scape’s Season One Battle Pass will include a free and a premium track featuring 100 tiers of exclusive unlockable cosmetic items. The premium track will cost 950 Bitcrowns, currency which can be earned in-game or purchased with real money (1,000 Bitcrowns costs $9.99/£8.59).
Hyper Scape is described as “the first battle royale built exclusively for Twitch,” with viewers able to vote for in-game events and view player stats and loadouts from their browsers, and progress their Battle Pass by watching streams with the Hyper Scape Crowncast extension enabled.
PC players who have unlocked or bought cosmetic items during testing will have access to them on console too as the game supports cross-progression on all platforms.
