Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged announced ahead of October release
The sequel will launch with over 130 vehicles, including motorcycles and ATVs
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged has been announced.
Following a recent leak, developer and publisher Milestone officially unveiled the sequel on Wednesday.
It will be released on October 19, 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
The game will launch with over 130 vehicles, including newly introduced motorcycles and ATVs, which will be able to race across “five distinct environments… each with unique racing surfaces that impact vehicle performance for a more dynamic match experience”.
It will also introduce new dash and jump abilities. “Lateral dashing will allow for tactical impacts against opponents, obstacle dodging, and daring overturns until the finish line, while players will also be able to perform dramatic jumps anytime and anywhere,” Milestone said.
In addition to a story-driven career mode, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 will introduce “a variety of new game modes” and cross-play on all platforms excluding Switch. Two-player split-screen mode is also returning.
Milestone said the game features improved track and livery editors, and that all user generated content will be shareable cross-platform.
Hot Wheels Unleashed was released in September 2021 for PC, Switch, PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
According to a March 2023 press release from Milestone and toy firm Mattel, it’s “the most successful title” in the game company’s history.
Hot Wheels Unleashed had sold over two million copies in a year and a half and had attracted more than eight million players across all platforms including Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, the companies said.
