Horizon Zero Dawn PC known issues detailed by Guerrilla ahead of launch
Game can now be pre-loaded ahead of August 7 release
Guerrilla Games has listed the known Horizon Zero Dawn PC issues it’s currently investigating ahead of the game’s launch.
In an update on Steam ahead of the game’s August 7 release (it will also be available via the Epic Games Store), Guerrilla detailed two “high priority” issues it’s looking into.
It said anisotropic filtering settings aren’t working at the moment, while “some systems may experience a brief stutter during general world traversal, UI updates, quest updates, or camera swaps in cutscenes”.
It also said that some animations are designed to only refresh at 30fps even if the game is running at a higher frame rate, something it hopes to address with a future update.
Players will need to complete a shader compilation process before the game starts for the first time, which Guerrilla said takes about 10-15 minutes for most systems.
“Additionally the shader compilation process does not properly verify remaining storage space on user PC and can result in crashes if the user’s storage drive is low on space (compilation process requires additional ~2GB storage space).”
Originally released for PS4 in February 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn has sold over 10 million copies.
Its PC launch will mark the first time a major PlayStation exclusive game from a Sony-owned studio has been released for PC.
Sony recently released a Horizon PC features trailer promising ultra-wide support, unlocked framerates, dynamic foliage, graphical customisation, improved reflections, and a benchmarking tool.
Guerrilla announced Horizon 2: Forbidden West for PlayStation 5 in June ahead of a planned 2021 release date.
Prior to the sequel’s announcement, VGC revealed that PlayStation and Guerrilla are planning a Horizon Zero Dawn trilogy.
