Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores DLC costs $20/£16, pre-order bonuses revealed
Pre-orders for the PS5 expansion are now live
Sony has opened pre-orders for Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores DLC, in the process confirming that it will cost $19.99/£15.99.
The company has also revealed pre-order bonuses for the expansion, which will launch on April 19 and is exclusive to PS5.
Customers who pre-order Burning Shores will receive access to the following digital bonuses:
- Blacktide Dye Outfit (available at the first dye merchant)
- Blacktide Sharpshot Bow (available from the first merchant in the Burning Shores)
The DLC sees Aloy “pursue a sinister threat in the untamed wilds of a far-future, volcanic Los Angeles which has been wracked by violent tectonic activity”, Guerrilla game director Mathijs de Jonge told PlayStation Blog.
“The story picks up Aloy’s story right where Horizon Forbidden West left off – so, to enter the Burning Shores, you must complete the main quest (up to and including the final quest Singularity) in Horizon Forbidden West. Following the events of Singularity, she will receive a call over her Focus, beginning the DLC.
“Aloy will then be able to travel to a dangerous new region south of the Tenakth Clan Lands, where players will experience a compelling new storyline featuring new characters, machines, and adventures”.
de Jonge recently discussed how making Burning Shores PS5 exclusive has allowed Guerrilla to get more out of the system.
The expansion isn’t coming to PS4, despite the base game, 2022’s Horizon Forbidden West, being released for Sony‘s current and last-gen consoles.
“On Horizon Forbidden West, everything we added or increased was something we’d need to have a plan around how to optimize for PS4 as well,” he said.
“On Burning Shores, since we can just focus on PS5, we’ve been able to charge forward and we’re really excited about what we’ve been able to pull off in creating this stunning post-post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles.”
