Hitman 3 trailer showcases new China level and next-gen features
PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will run in 4K at 60fps with HDR support
IO Interactive has announced a new Hitman 3 location alongside details of the next-gen versions of the game.
The studio used the ‘Under The Hood’ trailer above to reveal new gameplay footage in the rainy, neon-lit streets of Chongqing, China, and to showcase improvements to lighting, reflections, animation and AI achieved with its in-house engine, Glacier.
Improvements to rendering, animation and AI in Hitman 3 will also benefit locations from the previous games in the trilogy, which can be imported to the new title.
On PS5 and Xbox Series X, Hitman 3 will run in 4K resolution at 60fps with HDR support.
Hitman 3 will feature “a much darker tone than the previous games in the trilogy”, according to director Mattias Engström.
It will take Agent 47 to six locations including Dubai and Dartmoor, England.
IO says Glacier’s crowd technology allows for up to 300 active NPCs in a single location at once.
Hitman 3 will be released on January 20, 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Stadia and PC via the Epic Games Store. Players who buy the game digitally for current-gen consoles will get a free next-gen upgrade.
IO announced this month that it’s working on a new James Bond game. Project 007 (working title) will challenge players to earn 00 status in “the very first James Bond origin story”.
