Hideo Kojima claims he was involved in 15 disciplines for Death Stranding
Creator defines “a Hideo Kojima game”
Hideo Kojima claims he was involved in at least 15 disciplines during the creation of PS4 exclusive Death Stranding.
Posting on Twitter, the creator said his extensive involvement in the development process is why “a Hideo Kojima game” is included in the marketing and in-game credits for his titles.
“A HIDEO KOJIMA GAME means the declaration of me doing concept, produce, original story, script, setting, game design, casting, dealing, directing, difficulty adjustments, promoting, visual design, editing, supervising the merch,” he wrote.
“I don’t name this for titles that I don’t make original idea, game design or produce.”
In another Tweet posted 24 hours later, Kojima moved to thank “people in Sony, casts, musicians for supporting me w/zero start, all my staff who spent the destiny together and more than anything, fans who supported my restart.”
Hideo Kojima has been working on Death Stranding for around four years, since his departure from Konami in 2015.
The reformed Kojima Productions received significant backing from Sony.
Kojima claimed on Monday that while “some” staff joined the Death Stranding project from his old team, “many came to join from different game studios” or totally different industries.
“We even have freshman employees. We received support from outsourcing, I thank them too,” he wrote.
“But since it is ‘A HIDEO KOJIMA GAME’, I believe I can assure you my taste and quality that you can find in my previous titles.”
Death Stranding will release for PlayStation 4 on November 8. Kojima recently premiered 50 minutes of new Death Stranding gameplay during a live stream from Tokyo Game Show.
