Here’s Tag Heuer’s $2,150 Super Mario watch

Nintendo has teamed up with luxury Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer to release a limited edition Super Mario watch.

Much like other Tag Heuer watches, the Super Mario timepiece comes at a premium price, costing $2,150.

Because it’s strictly limited to 2000, the watch will only be available in select Tag Heuer ‘super boutique’ locations and the Tag Heuer website from July 15.

Rather than the sort of mechanical timepiece the Swiss company is noted for, the Tag Heuer Connected x Super Mario watch will be a special edition of the Tag Heuer Connected, a digital watch that uses Wear OS (the watch version of Android).

The watch has four special digital watchfaces with Mario designs, which will initially be exclusive to the Mario watch but will eventually be available for wearers of other Tag Heuer Connected watches to download.

The most notable feature of the watch is the activity tracking, which plays special Mario animations when certain milestones are reached.

As the Instagram video above shows, when users hit 25% of their activity goal in a day they’ll trigger an animation of Mario collecting a Super Mushroom, while hitting 50% will show him coming out of a pipe.

If they hit 75% they’ll see Mario collecting a Star and becoming invincible, while reaching 100% will show Mario jumping onto the flagpole, waving then sliding down it.

The watch’s bezel has red highlights and little Super Mushroom, Pipe and Star icons, while the crown shows the trademark M logo seen on Mario’s cap.

“The inspiration for this collaboration came from our desire to gamify and bring excitement to our new wellness application and Super Mario instantly came to our minds,” said TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault in a statement issued to World Tempus.

“The new hero watchface gives life to this iconic character and encourage users to team up with Mario to get out there and be more active?
