Here’s how Xbox users can play Cyberpunk 2077 right now by changing settings

Xbox owners can play Cyberpunk 2077 early by changing their region to New Zealand.

As it’s now December 10 in the region, New Zealand players are able to download and play the much-anticipated RPG – and users outside of the country can join in by utilising the popular settings trick.

In order to switch your Xbox console region, you need to:

  • Sign in to your Xbox console.
  • Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
  • Select Settings  > All Settings  > System > Language & location.
  • Select your new location from the Location list, and then select Restart now.

Although Microsoft notes that not all content will be transferable between regions, many users have already reported that their pre-ordered copies of Cyberpunk 2077 worked when changing to the New Zealand region.

As revealed in a VGC analysis, Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox features performance modes which are not included on PS5, likely due to how Sony’s console handles backwards compatibility.

On Tuesday, VGC published the first retail Cyberpunk 2077 images showing how the much-anticipated open-world game compares on consoles to a high-end PC.

In VGC’s Cyberpunk 2077 review, which was based on our time with the PC version of the game, our critic called it “a stunning achievement, if you can overlook the glitches”.

The game currently has a 91 Metascore on review aggregation site Metacritic, based on 46 PC reviews.

Cyberpunk 2077 will initially be released for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It will be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backwards compatibility, with a “proper, full-blown next-gen version” planned for release next year.

You can pre-order Cyberpunk 2077 from Amazon (UK), Amazon (US), Walmart, Best Buy and Game, among other retailers.
