HD versions of Pikmin and Pikmin 2 are coming to the eShop today
It means all four games will be available on the Switch
Nintendo has announced that HD versions of Pikmin and Pikmin 2 will be released on the eShop today.
Both games were originally released on the Nintendo GameCube, in 2001 and 2004.
They were both then re-released on the Wii with motion controls.
This marks their first official HD releases, however.
Each game costs $29.99 / £24.99, and will include all the enhancements added in the ‘New Play Control‘ versions of the game on Wii.
“Tasks like throwing, separating and swapping between Pikmin, as well as swarming ship parts or enemies, are all easier,” Nintendo‘s description of Pikmin 1 HD reads.
“You can also rewind to previous days and replay them to correct any mistakes made.
“The Nintendo Switch version also offers optional motion control using the Joy-Con controllers, mirroring the New Play Control version of the game.”
The description for Pikmin 2 adds: “The original local two-player challenge and battle modes are included, allowing you to play with or against a friend in special Challenge Arenas.
“Pick the commander of your choice, then use your Pikmin to go for a high score.”
The addition of Pikmin 1 and 2 means all four main games in the series will now be available on the Switch.
An enhanced version of Wii U title Pikmin 3 was released on the Switch in 2020. Titled Pikmin 3 Deluxe, it added a new prologue and epilogue, new difficulty levels, co-op play and all the DLC from the Wii U version.
