Halo-themed content is returning to Sea of Thieves for a limited time
The Spartan set was only made available for a brief time in 2019
The Halo-themed ship set that was previously available as a limited promotion is returning to Sea of Thieves for a longer period.
The Spartan Set was originally available to anyone who played the game between June 15-20, 2019, which gave them a Halo-themed set of sails, hull, flag and figurehead.
It was then made available again between August 20-24, 2019, which added a wheel, capstan and cannons to the previous items.
The items are now returning to the game after more than two years to celebrate both Halo Infinite and Xbox‘s 20th anniversary, and will also include new sails.
From November 24 until December 1, anyone who plays the game will receive the previous Spartan Set as a free unlock.
Then, from December 1 to December 8, anyone who plays will get a new set of Noble Spartan sails and flag.
Originally released in March 2018 as the first Microsoft exclusive to launch on Game Pass on day one of release, Sea of Thieves continues to be popular more than three and a half years later.
The game attracted a record 4.8 million players in July 2021, according to its developer Rare.
The game’s record player numbers were driven by the launch of a Pirates of the Caribbean crossover which arrived alongside Season 3 on June 22.
Titled Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life, the free expansion sees Disney character Jack Sparrow appearing in an original story set across five tales.
Microsoft said in July 2020 that Sea of Thieves had been played by over 15 million people since launch, cementing the game’s place as “the most successful new IP from Xbox this generation”.
