Halo Infinite players are destroying each other with a super punch glitch

Halo Infinite tech preview players are currently using an infamous series glitch to pummel each other with a flurry of melee punches.

The super punch glitch has appeared in a number of previous Halo entries (including 2 and 3) and essentially works by using the X or Y button to cancel animations for reloading or changing weapons.

By using and timing this animation cancel perfectly, players can repeat a melee attack far faster than they would otherwise be able to.

As you can see in the social media footage below, the glitch has been rediscovered in Halo Infinite’s ongoing tech preview and has resulted in many players adopting a strategy of pummelling their opponents to death.

Developer 343 Industries is running two technical previews this weekend and next (September 23-26 and September 30 – October 3) focused on “full-blown multiplayer”.

All Halo Insiders with eligible accounts as of September 13 are invited to participate in the latest tests. For details, head over to the Halo Waypoint website.

The event taking place from September 23-26 will focus on 4v4 Arena battles, while the event on September 30 – October 3 will look at 12v12 Big Team Battle contests.

In order to ensure enough players will be taking part to test the game’s online services, the test will only be active during certain time periods each day.

Last month Microsoft confirmed a Halo Infinite release date of December 8, 2021.

Developed by 343 Industries, the game was originally planned as an Xbox Series X/S launch title in 2020 but was delayed due to quality concerns.

While Halo Infinite’s campaign and multiplayer will be released this holiday, the game won’t be launching as the complete package previously expected. 343 Industries confirmed it had delayed two Halo Infinite launch modes to next year in order to make the game’s 2021 release.
