Microsoft will release Halo 2: Anniversary for PC on May 12.
The game will be available through the Microsoft Store, Steam and Xbox Game Pass for PC.
It’s part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection ($40/£30) but is also expected to be released standalone like Halo Reach in December 2019 and Halo: Combat Evolved in March 2020, which cost $10/£7 each.
Following Halo 2, the rest of the games included in The Master Chief Collection will continue to get staggered releases for PC in chronological order (Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4).
The PC versions are being developed by 343 Industries in partnership with Gears of War co-developer Splash Damage and Ruffian, which is known for its work on the Crackdown series.
Microsoft reiterated on Monday that its “goal” is to launch Xbox Series X during the 2020 holiday season and confirmed that Halo Infinite is currently on track to be a launch title.
Following delays to first party software including Minecraft Dungeons and Wasteland 3, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said last week that game production is a “bigger unknown” than the Series X hardware due to complications caused by remote working due to the coronavirus.
