Grid Legends gameplay reveal and release date announcement coming Friday
Codemasters will unveil its latest racer later this week
Codemasters will show off the first Grid Legends gameplay and announce the racing game’s release date this Friday.
Creative director Chris Smith and social and community team member Chris Groves will reveal new locations, cars, event types and more during a December 3 stream starting at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm GMT.
Revealed during EA Play Live in July, Grid Legends will be released in 2022 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
It introduces a new story mode to the series featuring “a classic underdog tale”. It centres on the Grid World Series, putting players “front and centre in a fly-on-the-wall documentary that captures every moment on and off the track”.
Grid Legends will also include new Boost and Elimination modes, plus fresh locations such as Moscow and London.
“Grid Legends combines everything our players love and adds more exhilarating race features, including our new epic story mode,” Smith said when the game was announced.
“We’re giving players more variety and choice, whether that’s creating their ultimate races using our race creator or bringing back the community-requested Drift mode. This is just the start of the journey, and we can’t wait to reveal more in the coming months.”
Electronic Arts completed its $1.2bn acquisition of Codemasters in February.
A recent Codemasters job advert claimed the UK-based studio was working on its “most ambitious and biggest” project in over a decade.
