Gotham Knights will no longer be released for PS4 and Xbox One
The game was previously slated to come to last-gen consoles
Gotham Knights will no longer be released for PS4 and Xbox One, it has been announced.
Coinciding with the release of new gameplay footage on Tuesday, Warner Bros Games issued the following statement: “Gotham Knights is scheduled to launch worldwide on Oct. 25, 2022.
“Please note, to provide players with the best possible gameplay experience, the game will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC and will not be available for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One consoles.”
Gotham Knights is being developed by WB Games Montreal and led by creative director Patrick Redding, who previously directed Splinter Cell titles Conviction and Blacklist.
It was initially planned for release last year before being delayed to provide “more time to deliver the best possible experience for players”.
Gotham Knights can be played in co-op, and despite an update to the PSN page for the game suggesting it could support four players, it appears to be two players only for now. Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl and Red Hood can all be selected, however it’s unclear if certain missions require specific characters to be used.
A 14-minute Gotham Knights video narrated by game director Geoff Ellenor was released on Tuesday, showing how each of the characters differ and providing some insight into the game’s narrative, which takes place following the death of Batman.
Deluxe Edition and Collector’s Edition versions of the game have also been announced.
The former includes “exclusive gear, cosmetics, Beyond Suitstyle character skins inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series and more”. The Collector’s Edition will include the Deluxe Edition contents plus an “augmented reality collectable pin,16-page media book, exclusive Gotham City map, four-characters statue diorama and more”.
