Google has cut the price of Stadia to $99 ‘for one day’
Service discounted for the first time since launch
Google has launched a one-day Stadia sale in the US which has seen the price of the Premiere Edition package cut from $129 to $99.
The $30 saving, which is available until March 20 at 11.59pm PT (March 21 at 2.59am ET), marks the first time the price of the cloud gaming platform has been officially reduced since its release.
The sale is US-only, meaning Stadia Premiere Edition remains priced at £119 / €129 in Europe.
Stadia released in November 2019 with several missing features, some of which have been rolled out over the past few months including full Chromecast Ultra support, Buddy Passes, an achievements system and 4K streaming on the web.
A free version of the service, Stadia Base, will launch in 2020.
In mid-January, Google revealed plans to add over 120 titles to Stadia this year and said it’s “targeting more than ten” timed exclusive releases in the first half of 2020.
More recently it announced the opening of a new Stadia Games and Entertainment studio in Playa Vista, California.
Focused on delivering exclusive games for the platform, it’s led by Shannon Studstill, who was formerly head of studio at Sony Santa Monica, where she also served as executive producer on 2018’s God of War.
March’s free games for Stadia Pro subscribers are Grid, SteamWorld Quest and SteamWorld Dig 2.
