GOG’s Summer Sale has been updated with a new free game
Sci-fi classic Flashback is the fourth of five titles being given away
GOG’s Summer Sale has been updated with it latest free game.
Flashback is currently available to download free until Thursday, June 23 at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST.
It’s worth noting that to claim the game, users are required to opt in to receive GOG marketing emails.
The sci-fi classic was originally released in 1992 and was critically acclaimed for its cutting-edge character animation and cutscenes.
To coincide with Flashback’s 30th anniversary, a sequel is scheduled for release later this year for PC, Switch, PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
The first trailer for the sequel, which is being developed by the original game’s creator Paul Cuisset and Microids Studio Lyon, was released last week.
“After defeating the Master Brain in the previous episode, Conrad and his allies are once again facing the Morphs species, threatening all civilizations,” a Microids statement reads.
Like its predecessor, the sequel will feature motion-captured animations. It will revisit a number of locations from the first game, including the jungle and Neo Washington, but will also include new locations like Neo Tokyo and a space station.
GOG’s Summer Sale launched earlier this month and is running until June 27. It includes over 3,500 deals and discounts of up to 90%, according to CD Projekt.
Following on from Sanitarium, Venetica – Gold Edition and Beautiful Desolation, Flashback is the fourth of five giveaways planned during the sale.
Supraland, which is billed as “a mix between Portal, Zelda and Metroid,” is currently free to download from the Epic Games Store. A Game of Thrones: The Board Game Digital Edition and Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 will then be available as free downloads from Epic’s PC marketplace from June 23-30.
Amazon will also be giving away over 50 PC games to Prime members at no extra charge over the next two months.
