God of War actor has reportedly said Ragnarök ‘isn’t the last you’ve seen of Tyr’
Ben Prendergast made the statement at PAX East, it’s claimed
One of the key actors in God of War: Ragnarök has reportedly implied his character may be returning in some form.
According to Shark Games, Ben Prendergast was one of the guests at a God of War retrospective panel at PAX East this past weekend.
It’s claimed that during the discussion, Prendergast was talking about his role as the Norse god Tyr when he teased that the character could return.
Prendergast is quoted as saying: “And I’ll say this – it isn’t the last you’ve seen of Tyr.”
If reported accurately, Prendergast’s comments aren’t necessarily confirmation that another God of War video game is in development.
They could instead be referring to a separate God of War themed project, such as the upcoming God of War TV series being co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television in association with PlayStation Productions.
It was announced in December that Amazon had officially greenlit a series based on the flagship Sony Interactive Entertainment franchise.
The show will follow the events of 2018’s God of War series reboot, which centres on father and son protagonists Kratos and Atreus and is one of PlayStation’s biggest hits with some 23 million sales.
The character of Tyr doesn’t make an appearance in the 2018 game, but he’s referenced in it, and the recent TV adaptation of The Last of Us has shown that PlayStation Productions has no qualms with expanding the source material’s storyline with further exposition and flashbacks.
Earlier this month, BAFTA revealed the nominations for its 2023 Games Awards, noting that God of War Ragnarök is its most-nominated video game ever since the awards started in 2004.
