Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered announced
Expected this year on consoles and PC via the Epic Games store
World War Z studio Saber Interactive has announced Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered.
Expected to launch later this year on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via the Epic Games store, it’s a remaster of 2009’s Ghostbusters: The Video Game.
The action-adventure title was penned by Ghostbusters writers and stars Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd. The pair lent their voices and in-game likenesses to the original story, as did fellow Ghostbusters Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson.
Set two years after Ghostbusters II, the game sees players take on the role of a new recruit on the Ghostbusters team, which is called into action when Manhattan gets overrun by supernatural forces.
“Using tools like the PKE Meter and trusty Proton Pack, you’ll learn to hunt, wrangle, and trap ghosts with the team across iconic New York City locations like Times Square and Central Park,” Matt McKnight, VP of business development at Saber and a producer on the game, told the PlayStation Blog.
“All of the -in-game videos and cutscenes were found on a hard drive in storage from one of the original creators and remastered in 4K HD,” he added. “The great storytelling and audio has all been preserved while enhanced textures and lighting complete the package.”
