Ghost of Tsushima dated with new story trailer
Sucker Punch’s PS4 exclusive gets June release, special editions detailed
Sony has announced that Ghost of Tsushima will be released on June 26, 2020.
Revealed in October 2017, the open-world adventure game is set during the Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274.
Players take on the role of Jin Sakai, a samurai warrior whose adventure draws on Japanese history and the traditions of samurai cinema to craft what developer Sucker Punch Productions calls “a gorgeous tale of revenge, empowerment, and hope”.
Update, April 27: Sony has delayed the Ghost of Tsushima release date to July 17.
Original story continues: The PS4 exclusive has also received a new story trailer, which you can view above. It features several important characters including Jin’s uncle and father figure, Shimura, the lord of Tsushima, and Khotun Khan, the leader of the invading Mongol army.
According to the official blurb: “With Tsushima on the brink of destruction, Jin Sakai must sacrifice everything to defeat the ruthless Mongol invaders and protect what’s left of his home and people.
“As he embarks on an epic adventure for the freedom of Tsushima, he is forced to set aside samurai traditions and become a new kind of warrior.”
The game will be available in several editions, which are detailed on the PlayStation Blog and pictured below. The collector’s edition includes a replica mask with an individually numbered display stand.
Pre-ordering any edition gets you a Jin avatar, a digital mini soundtrack and a PS4 dynamic theme.
