George R.R. Martin may have teased a possible film or TV adaptation of Elden Ring.

The Game of Thrones writer, who created the initial world and plot for FromSoftware‘s game, mentioned the game in his latest weekly blog.

Martin noted that the game was given the Nebula Award for Game Writing by the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers Association, saying: “I did the worldbuilding for that project, Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team did all the rest.”

Unprompted, he then appeared to tease: “Oh, and about those rumors you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on Elden Ring… I have nothing to say. Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumor?”

FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki said last week that there’s “interest” in an Elden Ring adaptation.

Speaking to The Guardian, Miyazaki said: “I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie for example.

“But I don’t think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. So that’s where a very strong partner would come into play.

“We’d have to build a lot of trust and agreement on whatever it is we’re trying to achieve, but there’s interest, for sure.”

Elden Ring’s expansion DLC Shadow of the Erdtree was released last month to widespread critical acclaim.

While Miyazaki recently ruled out making a second Elden Ring expansion, he has left the door open for a potential sequel.
