Gears Tactics now coming to Xbox as well as PC
Turn-based strategy game confirmed for console
Gears Tactics will now be released on Xbox as well as PC, The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson has confirmed.
Developed in partnership with Splash Damage, Gears Tactics was originally announced as a PC exclusive at E3 2018.
“You create a whole new squad, 12 years before Gears of War 1, as they hunt the locust monster maker responsible for destroying whole cities,” Fergusson said at the time.
“It’s our take on the classic turn-based strategy genre, with a character driven story, faster and more aggressive gameplay, a customisable squad and equipment, and of course, it wouldn’t be a Gears game without a massive boss battle.”
Responding to questions on Twitter this week, Fergusson said the game will be released on Xbox as well as PC.
Gears Tactics was announced alongside Gears 5 and mobile-first real-time multiplayer game Gears Pop. While both of those titles also featured at E3 2019 and Gamescom 2019, Gears Tactics was a no-show at both events.
However, with Gears Pop launching today and the Gears 5 release date of September 10 fast approaching, perhaps we’ll see more of Gears Tactics soon.
Fergusson, in Europe for Gamescom this week, said on Twitter that he met with the Gears Tactics team at Splash Damage on Wednesday.
