Gears of War movie: Dave Bautista asks fans to petition Netflix to ‘get it together’ and cast him
Netflix announced a Gears of War movie back in late 2022

Actor and former WWE superstar Dave Bautista has asked fans to put pressure on Netflix to cast him in its upcoming Gears of War movie.
Netflix announced back in November 2022 that it planned to release a number of Gears of War projects, including a live action film followed by an adult-focused animated series and possibly further productions beyond this.
In an interview with ComicBook this week, Bautista was talking about his latest movie In the Lost Lands when he briefly changed the subject to discuss the Gears of War film.
“Hey, start an online thing about freaking Gears of War,” he asked fans. “Come on Netflix. Come on already.”
When the interviewer pointed out that fans have been saying they want to see Bautista cast as the series’ main protagonist Marcus Fenix, Bautista said he had been trying to make it happen.
“Dude, it’s not like I’m not badgering them,” he replied. “You’ve got start a petition. Come on Netflix, get it together.”
Bautista has previously been involved with the Gears of War series. When the Xbox Series X/S version of Gears 5 was released, new content was added to the game which allowed players to recast Marcus Fenix as Bautista, complete with new voice acting.
Last year Netflix announced that Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Jon Spaihts had signed up to pen its Gears of War live-action movie.
Spaihts was Oscar-nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for Dune, which he co-wrote with director Denis Villeneuve and Eric Roth. He also co-wrote Dune:
Part Two, and his previous credits include Prometheus, Doctor Strange, Passengers and The Mummy.
“Gears of War is one of the all-time great action games, with vivid characters, a beautifully designed world and a combat system that drives home the lethality of war and the importance of standing by your squadmates,” Spaihts said via Netflix last year. “It wants to be cinema, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to help that happen.”
The movie looks set to cover at least the events of the first game, which sees disgraced sergeant Marcus Fenix leading humanity’s last stand against a monstrous subterranean race called the Locust Horde.
