Gearbox teaser site confirms ‘Wonderlands’ reveal for Summer Game Fest this week
Borderlands spin-off appeared in a leaked games list earlier this month
Gearbox and publisher 2K will reveal Borderlands spin-off, ‘Wonderlands’ during Summer Game Fest Kick Off Live later this week.
Summer Game Fest confirmed on Monday that it will reveal “a new adventure from Gearbox and 2K” during the two-hour show on Thursday, June 10.
A teaser site, BeChaoticGreat.com has also been launched, and as shown in VGC’s image below its code contains references to a yet-to-be-launched website for ‘Wonderlands’:
Wonderlands was first listed in a leaked 2K games list which was circulated on social media last week, and corroborated by VGC’s own sources. According to the list, the Borderlands spin-off stars mainstay character Tiny Tina, with similar gameplay to the core Borderlands games.
A series spin-off was first claimed to be in development by Gamereactor last month, then 2K parent Take-Two confirmed shortly after that it would publish a “new Gearbox franchise” before April 2022.
The leaked games list also claimed that XCOM studio Firaxis is working on a new turned-based strategy game starring Marvel heroes. Last month Take-Two said the studio would reveal “several exciting projects” this year.
Last week E3 organiser the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) published new details on its 2021 schedule, which includes a Gearbox press conference on Saturday, June 12 and a Take-Two presentation on Monday, June 14.
The all-digital E3 2021 event runs from June 12-15 and will include a four-day live broadcast hosted by Alex ‘Goldenboy’ Mendez, Jacki Jing and Greg Miller, featuring publisher showcases, press conferences, industry panels, livestreams and more.
