Gargoyles Remastered, based on the 1995 Sega Genesis game, gets a release date
The modernised Disney cartoon tie-in will be released digitally and physically
The HD remaster of Sega Genesis platformer Gargoyles is set for release next month.
Disney announced last year that the 1995 game, based on its animated TV series, would be getting an HD remaster, but it didn’t give a release date at the time.
Disney has now confirmed that the remaster will come to PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC (via Steam and GOG) on October 19.
The Gargoyles games was only released in North America for the Genesis, and has players controlling the TV show’s protagonist Goliath as he explores New York in search of the Eye of Odin, an evil artefact that corrupts anyone who owns it.
The remaster lets players play the game in either the original 16-bit visuals, or with a new hand-drawn art style which makes it look more like the cartoon.
Pre-orders for the digital version begin today, and will cost $14.99 / £12.49.
Limited Run Games will also be releasing the game physically, in three different editions – a standard release at $34.99, a Classic Edition at $69.99 and a Collector’s Edition at $174.99.
The Classic Edition comes in a VHS style clamshell case, a VHS tape-shaped box and a Steelbook cover.
The Collector’s Edition contains everything in the Classic Edition plus a larger box that plays a voice liune, a limited edition Goliath action figure, a poster, an enamel pin and a certificate of authenticity.
